Laura Miltenberger 541-966-3260 |
After 31 years as an educator, Laura Miltenberger retired in the spring of 2012 and was hired as half-time Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Coordinator for the Pendleton School District. This is Ms. Miltenberger’s 22nd year in Pendleton. She came to the Pendleton School District in 1991 as a library media specialist. Since then she has also taught kindergarten, 1st, 4th, and 5th grades in Pendleton. She has taught at Lincoln Primary, West Hills Intermediate, (the former) Hawthorne Elementary and McKay Creek Elementary. In addition, Ms. Miltenberger was principal at McKay Creek Elementary School from 2007-2012. Prior to being hired in Pendleton School District, Ms. Miltenberger taught for South Sherman Elementary School in Grass Valley, Ore., McNary Heights Elementary in Umatilla, Pilot Rock Elementary in Pilot Rock, Highland Hills Elementary in Hermiston, and Chenoweth Middle School in The Dalles. Ms. Miltenberger received her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Oregon University, her Master’s of Education degree from Lesley University, and her administrator license from Lewis & Clark College. |

Julie Smith 541-966-3262

Ms. Smith was hired at the PSD in 2002 and taught special education for K-5 before being hired as the District's Special Education Coach. After earning her Master's in Education from Portland State in 2004, she attained her National Board Teaching Certification as an Exceptional Needs Specialist for ages 5-21. Always one to expand her skills, Ms. Smith is currently enrolled in the Lewis & Clark College Educational Leadership Program. |

Jon Peterson began his tenure as superintendent of the PSD in July 2009. Mr. Peterson has worked in education in several capacities since 1983. He first served in Pendleton as a math teacher and guidance counselor at Pendleton High School from 1990-1998, before advancing to assistant principal and athletic director at PHS from 1998-2003. He then went on to serve as principal at Lincoln, West Hills and Washington elementaries between 2003 and 2007. Prior to becoming superintendent, he was the principal at Sunridge Middle School.
Tricia Mooney came to the PSD in July 2008 as the Director of Human Resources. She became Assistant Superintendent in July 2009. Prior to coming to Pendleton, Mrs. Mooney worked in the Hermiston School District from 1995-2008. During her time there, she served as a 6th grade teacher, an Assistant Principal at both Armand Larive and Sandstone Middle Schools, and principal at Rocky Heights Elementary and Armand Larive Middle schools.
A native to Pendleton, Michelle Jones came to the PSD in 2001as a business assistant. She was promoted to Director of Business Services in July 2009. Prior to coming to the PSD, Ms. Jones was a payroll clerk/administrative assistant at Umatilla-Morrow Head Start. She also spent four years during college at the PSD, assisting with payroll and business services.
After earning her Bachelor's Degree from Central Washington University in 1995, Julie Smith worked as an instructional assistant for special education in the PSD. Due to that experience, Ms. Smith went on to pursue her special education teaching certificate at Portland State University. After earning her license, Ms. Smith worked as a special education teacher for the Beaverton School District before returning to Pendleton.
