Elementary students participate in choir festival
The McKay Creek and Sherwood Heights elementary school choirs showed off their musical talents in the Eastern Oregon Children’s Festival in La Grande on April 9.
The choirs, under the direction of Choir Director Cheryl Carlson, participated in the festival, held at Eastern Oregon University, along with choirs from La Grande, North Powder, Joseph and Boardman.
The trip to the festival was made possible for these students thanks to support from the Education Foundation of Pendleton, the Umatilla County Cultural Coalition, and Altrusa.
Thirty students participated in the festival from Pendleton, including: Ashlynn Madril, Kristie Anderson, Andrew Wolotira, Lauren Galloway, Collin Taber, Emily Rinehart, Olivia Berry, Sarah Powell, Kinncey Schuh, Samantha Okaly, Brooke Zander, Riley Sorensen, Daphny Chen, Elli Nirschl, Faith Akers, Jill Schulze, Rylee Harris, Mikena Ruth, Addy Kay, Brittany Case, Saleen McEntire, Austin Gruenhagen, Dane Myrick, Natalie McCracken, Rebecca Walker, Chelsea Farrow, Brooklynn Lunny, Lilyan Duckett, and Tanna Stewart.
